Spirituality and Global Peace
By Ellen Hayakawa on Aug 1, 2009 in Ellen Hayakawa's Thoughts
The mission I have – of establishing global peace in my lifetime emerged through the question that I have asked myself since I was a young child of 7 or 8. Who am I and what did I come here to do? I grew up in the early 1960′ s in Toronto, Canada – a 3rd generation Canadian of Japanese ancestry. Although my parents taught me that I should be proud of who I am and to be proud of my family and ancestry, there was no apparent advantage as a child to having yellow skin, black hair and slanted Asian eyes in a basically white culture and society. The racial discrimination that I experienced as a child both hurt me and helped me to understand how shallow and cruel people can be and how strong that I would need to be – looking and being different. I believe in the good of every experience of our lives – that every experience, no matter how painful it is brings us closer to who we are in the nakedness, beauty and richness of our souls. There can be nothing better and higher than every individual expressing exactly what their soul came here to be and do.
As a baby in the womb and as a young child, I already had a deep and rich spiritual life. I experienced the telepathic, psychic connection with God in the womb that we all have. And my greatest fear was of losing that connection…. that the world would be too loud to hear the reassuring voice of God. However God gave me eyes to see and ears to hear and a brain to know the whisperings and murmurings of the Great Spirit. I was also sent reminders along the way that I have a purpose and that divinity prevails. I saw an angel when I was 3. I was given the gift of communication skills and understanding and comprehension of words and stories that far exceeded my age. Little did I know that I was already in training for my mission of peace. (see www.spiritofchildren.wordpress.com regarding children and their spiritual gifts)
Everyone has a purpose and a mission should they choose to find it. Everyone who thinks they have a purpose and a mission at this time but doesn’t know what it is must make the best effort to figure it out. It is crucial to the peace of your soul. When you have peace in your soul, you create peace in the world!
