Celebrating World Autism Awareness Day
By Ellen Hayakawa on Apr 2, 2012 in The Spiritual Wisdom of Children and Youth
Today is World Autism Awareness Day. I celebrate those children, youth and adults who live with autism. It is not an easy world for them to live in. I thank them for showing us our limitations in awareness and beliefs. Having coached and mentored and trained children, youth, parents, grandparents, teachers, educators and health professionals for 12 years now helping them to connect in to their spiritual wisdom and psychic and intuitive abilities . I have also worked with many children and youth who have been diagnosed with what we currently call “disorders” – learning disorders, mental disorders and have found that rather than having disorders, they simply perceive the world in different ways.
I choose not to call them disorders as I have found that that makes children and youth feel that there is something wrong with them and it affects their self esteem and self confidence. Beyond that I don’t believe or feel that they have disorders.
What I have found in my work is that those who are living with what I will call learning and brain difference are showing us an advanced state of evolutionary consciousness and very different ways of perceiving the world. Locked into our own belief systems of the way we think children and youth “should” work and “should be” we are often missing the great gifts of these sensitive spirits and souls. And it really is at the depth of spirit and soul that they deliver their messages to those who will listen.
Many of these children and youth are already practicing and communicating telepathically, have psychic gifts of prophesy, interspecies communication and are in an advanced evolutionary state of awareness and consciousness. Because of their accute energy sensitivities, the world is often a place of sensory overload for them. In addition, unless we build a bridge to their world and understand the beauty of what they are perceiving and the multidimensional ways that they communicate, we will continue to miss the purpose for which they have come to this planet. They are here to lead us into the future. They are already living in the future of where we are going, rather than what is. They are here to help the rest of us become aware of that and then to train us.
Yes, the person living with autism has a brain that simply works differently and thank God for the perfection and wisdom of that. Our individual and collective brains that have run the world before have not done a great job. Just look at the disparities and the state of the planet. We should be welcoming those who who have different brains and perceptions of the world rather than trying to make them like us. A wonderful example of someone living with autism who has revolutionized an industry is Dr. Temple Grandin…and it was because she thinks differently!!!
This is not in any way to discount the struggles of children and youth living with autism as well as the struggles of their parents and supporters. However that is why we are together on this planet – to support and help each other out! Today I celebrate every person on the planet living with autism and look forward to hearing more about the gifts you are bringing! For parents of children living with autism, teachers, educators and health professionals, I have prepared a series of 3 free training videos which you can receive by opting in at www.divinelyinspiredleaders.com/children
Ellen,
You are so clear and so true in what these being are all about. My son Clay (16) has autism and has led me to a world that is so rich and meaningful….I don’t know of any other way I would have gotten here. Much of his leadership has been through his presence.
Five years ago, I was teaching high school students with autism. I had a vision to build communities which would teach the rest of us the lost “Art of Living”. The teachers are these beings. The movement to be started is titled “InteGREATity”..Integrity when integrated leads to Greatness.
Thank you for offering such a great piece of writing.
Namaste….Jeff McGunegle
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m thrilled that you were led to a richer and more meaningful life by your son, Clay. What a great gift he has given you. What a great gift also that he chose you as his father in this lifetime and that your soul chose to support him in his journey! If you are interested in building communities, yes that would teach the lost Art of Living, please check out Spirit Holding Land which can also be found on this website. INteGREATity sounds like a wonderful movement that you are creating! All of these pieces of the divine puzzle are coming together. We each must do the visions we are called to do. The children and youth are called to do their part as well. And they are calling those of us who are willing to be taught by them to unfold our pieces of peace. In Spirit and Peace, Ellen
