Autism and Communication

We all communicate in different ways and it really isn’t necessary to force anyone to communicate in the way that we believe that they should. Rather let us compassionately allow every child to communicate what’s inside of them in their own way.   The short clip at the bottom of the post illustrates what I’ve found in my work – that every child has a wealth of precious knowledge and insights inside of them.   As adults we can be focused on children and youth communicating and behaving in the way that we think that they would. We also often unconsciously close the doors to children communicating with others because we believe that they can only communicate and connect to others in the ways that are “normal” or that we expect them to.   This is simply not true. We communicate by the fact that we were created by the Great Spirit and we are on this planet.  Every child, youth or adult has something to communicate in their own way.  And they are looking for people to connect with who are ready to accept them for who they are, and are curious about what they have to communicate. If that person is you then when they feel safe to share their inner knowledge, wisdom, beauty….really to share their heart and soul with you, they will.
